I’m so glad you’re here - thank you.

My name is Anna and I am the owner/operator of The Dog Box Retreat. I am a dog groomer by profession, but a lover of all animals by heart. I am also a mum of two incredible boys and the wife of a fantastic man. We have created a home for ourselves and animals in a magic spot - Te Puke, New Zealand.

A bit about how I got to where I am. For as long as I can remember I have had a passion for animals. All kinds of animals but, especially for dogs. Dogs are ‘my people’. Since I was a little girl I have rescued, nurtured and enjoyed having animals surround me. To this day, if I see a dog who looks lost, I will do everything I can to ensure he/she is found. If theres an injured bird on the road, I will stop traffic to get that little bud to safety. My doors are always open - whether thats a cat, dog or rabbit. Animals are everything to me, always have been. So, it is no surprise that I ended up working with them.

How did I become a dog groomer? Well, I was a hairdresser, a human hairdresser. But, I craved to be working with animals. So when the family and I had the opportunity to move down to Taranaki to live and work on a farm, we jumped at it. While there, I also got the opportunity to work as a Dog Groomer. Working with dogs was everything I dreamed it would be. Actually, it was everything and more.

We moved back up to Tauranga in 2017, armed with knowledge and a dream that I would soon own my own grooming salon. That hope became a reality in 2018. A slice of paradise became available in Te Puke and from the moment I saw the property I knew it would be perfect.

Once we settled I began creating the space - The Dog Box Retreat. A calm and tranquil spot for dogs to relax and get pampered. A place where I got to enjoy the company of dogs while making them look and smell beautiful.

I was destined to work with animals and I am beyond grateful that I get to do so everyday. All dogs are so very different. However, one thing that remains the same regardless, my love for them.

This is my philosophy and what I am passionate about. The clock isn’t a consideration, I will work with your dog and to their pace. I will make sure the process is positive. I do this in the way I handle your dog, with love and by having an environment that is tranquil and calm.
